Now is the time of year when the halls of AISB are filled with the sounds of coughing, sneezing, sniffling, and wheezing. We have lots of laughter and love at AISB, and we also have lots of lovely germs floating about!
In an attempt to teach our friends about the importance of proper hand washing and basic hygiene, Nurse Aranka and I went to visit our Pre K, Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade classes to do a lesson on germs.
We talked about the 5 important steps of hand washing;
- Wet your hands with warm water.
- Use one squirt of soap.
- Wash-wash-wash your hands for 20 seconds!
- Rinse your hands with warm water.
- Dry your hands with a paper towel
We had a germ hunt, made germ finger puppets, and learned a song to sing that would help us remember the important times to wash our hands.
We also watched part of a fun Sid the Science Kid video about the Journey of a Germ.
Check out the Resource tab to watch the entire video with your child at home.
Sharing is a wonderful thing, but let's keep those germs to ourselves...or better yet, down the drain!!
